I have only just discovered this blog. I owned an S1 30 years ago, and trying to acquire one now.
This is such a great source of information! You have done some great hacking!
Thank you for your comment.
I’m glad to hear that.
I will continue to post S1 articles. :)
I am thinking about trying to connect an S1 to some sort of modern monitor.
I found this resource for color pin out for S1 for a D8A (8 pin) connection:

I am having a hard time trying to work out whether this adapter might help me, which converts from 8 pin DIN to RGB15 (not VGA, but I could put through a Scan Converter):

Do you think it might work with an S1?
I think this cable can be used.
However,There are few models for LCD of 15KHz.
I use a SCARTtoHDMI converter.
I change RGB to SCART and use a SCARTtoHDMI converter.
I have a scan converter that can take the 15KHz signal and convert to a frequency my LCD can handle

Have you ever thought about trying to configure a Gotek with an S1?
https://hxc2001.com/store/index.html
It supports emulating MFM drives, and they provide a service to customise the firmware:

I wonder if this could help enable S1 software preservation, as it seems very rare these days.

I don't know because I've never used an FDD emulator.
There were some FDDs that could not be used when various FDD were connected to S1/30.
